Meet Ashana Chand APCC
Ashana Chand is an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (APCC #20932) supervised by Marisa Ronquillo Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #122594) based in Sacramento California.
Hi, I’m Ashana.
If you’re an adult who feels anxious, overwhelmed, or constantly “in your head” even when nothing looks wrong from the outside; I see you.
Many of the people I work with are high-functioning, thoughtful, and deeply self-aware, yet still feel:
stuck in overthinking loops
emotionally exhausted from trying to get things “right”
unsure why small interactions hit so hard
guilty setting boundaries, even when they know they need them
Therapy with me is a space to slow things down, make sense of these patterns, and help your nervous system feel safer.
You don’t have to have everything figured out to start.
I Work Best With Adults Who:
Feel anxious, tense, or on edge most days; even when life looks “fine”
Overthink conversations, decisions, or relationships long after they happen
Feel responsible for other people’s emotions
Struggle with boundaries, people-pleasing, or saying ‘no’ without guilt
Feel disconnected from themselves or unsure who they really are
Grew up needing to be “good,” mature, or low-maintenance & are now exhausted
You don’t need a trauma label to belong here.
Many clients come in sensing something is off, even if they can’t yet name why.
What It’s Like to Work With Me
Therapy with me is warm, collaborative, and grounded. I’ll meet you where you are; without judgment, pressure, or pushing you to move faster than your system is ready for.
In sessions, we’ll:
explore the patterns behind your anxiety and overthinking
understand how your past and present experiences shape your reactions
build practical tools to help you feel more regulated and steady in daily life
strengthen your sense of self and confidence in relationships
Some sessions are reflective and spacious. Others are more structured and skill-based. We move at a pace that feels supportive, not overwhelming.
You don’t need to perform or have the “right” words here. Showing up as you are is enough.
My Approach
My approach blends evidence-based tools with a deep respect for your lived experience. Rather than focusing on quick fixes, I help you understand why your anxiety, reactions, or relationship patterns developed & how to respond to yourself with more compassion and clarity.
I integrate practical coping strategies, mindfulness, and insight-oriented work to help you:
feel more emotionally regulated
trust yourself and your needs
build healthier boundaries
feel more grounded in who you are
I’m especially mindful of how culture, family dynamics, and early experiences shape the way we relate to ourselves and others; even when those experiences don’t feel “big enough” to count.
Therapeutic influences in my work include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) — identifying and reshaping unhelpful thought patterns to support meaningful behavior change
Mindfulness-Based Approaches — cultivating present-moment awareness, self-compassion, and stress reduction
Psychodynamic Insights — exploring underlying patterns and unconscious influences that shape thoughts, feelings, and relationships
Family Systems Theory — understanding relational dynamics within families to support communication, connection, and growth
Narrative Therapy — gently examining and reframing the stories we tell about ourselves to foster empowerment and resilience
My Background
My path into therapy began long before I earned my degree. I first worked in an Intensive Outpatient Program, where I witnessed how powerful it can be when people are met with genuine support, curiosity, and care during moments of anxiety and emotional overwhelm.
I earned my Master’s in Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of the Pacific and am currently continuing my training in a Doctor of Psychology (PsyD) program. Throughout my work, I’ve supported adults navigating anxiety, identity exploration, relationship stress, and the lasting impact of early expectations or family dynamics.
As part of Insightful Roots Therapy, I’m committed to creating a space where you feel safe, understood, and empowered to grow into a life that feels more grounded, authentic, and sustainable.
